Updated connected technology details

The India-spec BAYON’s Connected Car Navigation Cockpit combines dual 12.3-inch curved displays with connected services and navigation. Hyundai says the cockpit is accelerated by NVIDIA and lists more than 70 Bluelink connected features, over-the-air updates for up to 19 controllers, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a three-year complimentary Bluelink subscription. A Bose premium audio system is also among the announced features. Actual availability varies by trim, so check the published HX equipment matrix.

Hyundai describes the BAYON’s generative-AI voice assistant as its first for an India model. It combines Intelligence by Perplexity with voice AI powered by SoundHound AI and can answer requests related to travel itineraries, weather, hotels, restaurants, news and sports, according to the manufacturer. Hyundai separately lists more than 500 embedded voice commands and support for 10 regional and two international languages. The company has not published a complete prompt catalogue or clarified whether every assistant feature works in every language.

Voice assistance does not replace driver attention. A driver should keep eyes on the road and avoid reading long responses or navigating menus while moving. Online functions may depend on data coverage, account setup or a subscription; ask Hyundai which tasks work offline, what happens after the included Bluelink period and where privacy controls are available.

At a showroom, test the AI assistant separately from a fixed vehicle command. Try the languages and place names the household actually uses, then ask which functions are available on the selected trim. Our dedicated voice-assistant explainer covers usage expectations; this guide places that feature within the wider cockpit and connectivity package.

Archive note: the pre-launch feature list below is superseded by Hyundai’s launched product information.

Pre-launch archive

Hyundai has now confirmed the Hyundai Bayon safety package ahead of the SUV’s India launch on 26 October 2026. That means several items previously treated as expected can now be separated from equipment that still awaits a variant-wise launch list.

Quick Answer

Hyundai says the India-spec Bayon will have six airbags as standard, more than 80 safety features, over 35 standard safety features and a 23-function Level 2 Pro ADAS package. Its body uses 69% advanced multi-grade high-strength steel. Hyundai’s phrase “engineered for 5-star Indian safety standards” is a manufacturer claim, not an awarded Bharat NCAP or Global NCAP crash-test rating.

Confirmed Hyundai Bayon Safety Features

Item What Hyundai has confirmed
Airbags Six airbags as standard across the range
Total safety equipment More than 80 safety features, with more than 35 standard across all variants
ADAS Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 Pro with 23 driver-assistance functions
Sensor set Three radars and 12 parking sensors
Body structure 69% advanced multi-grade high-strength steel, including hot-stamped, ultra-high-strength, advanced-high-strength and high-strength grades
Platform Global K Enhanced Platform, according to Hyundai

What The 23-Function ADAS Package Includes

Hyundai’s 21 October 2026 safety announcement identifies functions including forward-collision warning, forward collision-avoidance support for cars, pedestrians and cyclists, and junction-turning assistance. The complete availability of individual functions should still be checked against the final variant brochure, because an announced technology package does not automatically mean every feature is fitted to every trim.

Level 2 describes combined steering and speed-support capability in defined conditions. It does not make the Bayon self-driving: the driver remains responsible for monitoring the road and taking control.

“Engineered For 5-Star” Is Not A Crash-Test Result

Hyundai says the Bayon is “engineered for 5-star Indian safety standards”. We should not read that wording as an independent rating. At the time of this update, Hyundai’s announcement does not cite a published Bharat NCAP score for the Bayon. A five-star result can only be treated as established after the relevant assessment body publishes it.

Confirmed Technology Features

Feature Detail
Dual 12.3-inch curved displays Digital instrument display and infotainment interface
Generative AI voice assistant Conversational requests for functions such as navigation and destination suggestions
ccNC Connected Car Navigation Cockpit with online navigation and split-screen functions
OTA updates Hyundai says up to 19 vehicle controllers can receive over-the-air updates
Hyundai Bluelink More than 70 connected functions
Languages and voice 10 regional and two international interface languages, plus more than 500 embedded voice commands

Engine And Gearboxes Are Also Confirmed

The Bayon will use a four-cylinder 1.5-litre MPi petrol engine producing 84.4 kW (115 PS) and 143.8 Nm. Buyers will be offered a six-speed manual or Hyundai’s Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT). Official fuel-economy figures and the variant-to-powertrain matrix still need to be confirmed at launch.

What Still Needs Launch-Day Confirmation

Hyundai has confirmed the safety architecture and major technology package, but the final brochure remains important for exact variant distribution. Features such as a sunroof, ventilated seats, a premium audio system, surround-view camera, connected functions and specific ADAS features may not be standard on every version. Prices, official mileage, boot capacity and the full variant list are also due at launch.

Colours And Booking

Hyundai lists 10 exterior choices across monotone, dual-tone and matte finishes. Bookings are open online and at authorised Hyundai dealers for ₹11,000. Buyers can use the V3Cars on-road price calculator after the official prices are announced.

Final Word

The safety announcement replaces several earlier expectations with primary-source confirmation. The most consequential facts are the standard six-airbag fitment, the claimed 69% high-strength-steel content and the 23-function ADAS suite. The remaining job for buyers is to match those features to the exact variant—and to wait for an independent crash-test result before treating “engineered for 5-star” as a rating.
