Updated: distinguish three BAYON contexts
The BAYON name now refers to more than one market-specific vehicle context. India’s 2026 model is an India-developed utility vehicle built around a 1.5-litre MPi petrol engine, 115 PS and 143.8 Nm, with manual or selected-trim iVT. It measures 4,245 mm long and has a 505-litre boot. Those are the confirmed India specifications.

The earlier European BAYON was a smaller crossover offered in Europe with different powertrain and equipment choices. It is not the same product as the India-spec vehicle simply because the name is shared. In addition, Hyundai unveiled an all-new Europe-focused BAYON at the Paris Motor Show in October 2026. Hyundai described that model as designed and engineered for Europe, with 1.0-litre T-GDI petrol versions and a hybrid expected later. Its published luggage capacity and powertrain figures are different from India’s vehicle.
For buyers, the practical rule is to check the market and model year on any article, brochure or video before relying on a specification. A European technical sheet cannot be used to infer India’s engine, gearbox, features or safety equipment; likewise, the Indian price does not apply to Europe. Even similarly named driver-assistance features may work differently because hardware, local regulations and software packages vary.
The current India range has seven HX trims. The Europe-oriented all-new model has its own market-specific grade and powertrain plan. Hyundai’s N Line styling is associated with the European announcement and should not be read as confirmation of an Indian BAYON N Line trim. Our separate India safety guide covers the local equipment and carefully distinguishes manufacturer claims from independent ratings.
Archive note: pre-launch descriptions of the global model below have been superseded by Hyundai’s October 2026 European reveal.
