Baleno Delta vs Swift VXi O: Decide What the Extra Space Is Worth

The Baleno Delta and Swift VXi (O) are close enough in price that a small dealer offer could reverse the apparent winner. Their engines are also closely related. This choice is really about the space and equipment you gain in the Baleno against the Swift’s lower running and ownership cost in V3Cars’ five-year model.

The Baleno’s 2,520mm wheelbase is 70mm longer than the Swift’s and its 318-litre boot is 53 litres larger. That is tangible if you regularly carry rear passengers or luggage. Take a child seat, stroller or weekly shopping bags to the showroom and check the shape of the boot, not just its quoted litres. If the back seat is rarely used, the size advantage may remain theoretical.

The Swift is lighter and carries a slightly higher claimed mileage figure in the comparison, 24.8kmpl versus 23.8kmpl. V3Cars estimates about Rs. 15,500 lower five-year ownership cost for the Swift, but values the Baleno’s additional size and equipment more highly. Its overall model favours the Baleno by about Rs. 60,500. That number reflects V3Cars’ own monetary values for features; it is not cash you will recover when you sell the car.

Drive the exact VXi (O) and Delta variants on the same road. Check the visibility, seat support, low-speed clutch feel and whether each car has the phone and parking features you will use. Then compare final on-road quotations, including the same insurance cover. The Baleno is the easier recommendation for a family that uses its extra room; the Swift is a sensible answer for a city driver who prizes a smaller footprint.

The variant-to-variant comparison contains the underlying dimensions, equipment and cost assumptions.
